Police investigating the murder of Wairarapa toddler Hinewaoriki Karaitiana-Matiaha say there is growing frustration in the town, as residents believe the case is not producing results fast enough.
The homicide inquiry has led to charges against three people but none relate to the injuries which caused the 23-month-old's death.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Reisima says posters which went up around Carterton overnight indicate some members of the community are getting frustrated with what they believe is a lack of movement in the case.
He says there are two variations on the poster.
One asks why the community is protecting child killers, and the other discusses "Justice for Lillybing."
Detective Sergeant Graeme Reisima says he can understand why the posters have been put up overnight, but it doe not make the job of detectives any easier.
He says police do not know who is responsible for the posters.
Relatives took Hinewaoriki's bashed, scalded and sexually violated body to Masterton Hospital on July 23rd.
