Labour MP Taito Phillip Field is frustrated with the pace of a police investigation into his dealings and his lawyer has urged police to make a decision about whether to prosecute his client.
The Mangere MP has been on leave from Parliament since the end of August while police conduct a formal inquiry into various allegations levelled against him.
Mr Field has been collecting full pay during his absence.
Yesterday his lawyer Simitiva Perese said Mr Field was "completely frustrated" that the investigation was still continuing, with seemingly no end in sight. "He just calls on police to make a decision - to wrap up the investigation," Mr Perese said.
"It seems to be going on forever."
He said Mr Field still had not been interviewed by the police.
Mr Field is due to return to New Zealand in coming days from Samoa, where he flew to see family and friends and to attend a wedding.
Police yesterday refused to say if their investigation into the Labour MP was near a conclusion, and would not speculate on how much longer it might take.
Mr Field has vehemently denied accusations that he provided immigration assistance to several Thais while accepting cheap labour from them.
