Sam is a friendly huntaway cross who is looking for a new home and an owner who will love her forever.
The 18-month-old was surrendered to an SPCA inspector in early November.
Canine attendant Max Burndred says Sam is a "sweet wee girl" who needs an owner with the ability to build her self-confidence.
Sam cannot be left alone for many hours, but is the kind of dog that can be taken anywhere, Ms Burndred says.
SPCA marketing manager Martin Mackenzie adds that Sam "is a bit needy at times and her new owners will have to make sure they don't encourage this behaviour by spoiling her".
Herald readers who are interested in adopting Sam, or any other SPCA animal, should contact the animal village on (09) 256-7300.
Sam's ID number is 154530.
