A faulty fridge is being blamed for the evacuation of one floor of an Auckland office building where leaking gas caused office workers to vomit and faint.
Eight workers were affected by the leak in the Tower Building on Fanshawe St about 3pm, said Tony McDonald, from Fire Service northern communications.
A large number of fire appliances were called to the Fanshawe St building, where a faulty fridge was found to be leaking the gas.
An additive to the gas was being blamed for making the workers feel ill, rather than the gas itself.
