Fresh face at helm for Wairarapa Singers

The Wairarapa Singers Inc have announced a new conductor this year as they prepare for their first two concerts of the year to be held in May.

Angie Cook, of Rathkeale College, holds an honours degree from Manchester University and has been welcomed by the group.

President Megan Searle said Jessica Kloosterman will be their pianist, and the group were delighted to have her on board.

Another Rathkeale College teacher, Adam Gordon, will be the concert organist.

Mrs Searle said the group are also looking for new members - especially tenors and basses.

"We are an unauditioned choir of 40 to 50 members, but like to maintain a good standard of singing," she said.

The concerts will be performed in Greytown and Masterton on May 17 and 18, and will include Faure's Requiem and Vivaldis Gloria.
