A minute's silence will be held at the French Embassy in Wellington on Monday to pay tribute to the victims of the Bastille Day attack in Nice.
The embassy is opening a book of condolence for people to sign as the world rallies to support the stunned European nation.
Eighty-four people, including 10 children, were killed and more than 250 injured when a 31-year-old French Tunisian man sped through a crowd in a truck mowing down everyone in his path as people celebrated the French national day.
Some international tourists were caught up in the carnage but there were no New Zealanders in the casualty toll.
In a statement the embassy said staff would be observing a minute of silence at midday in front of the Manners Street offices to pay tribute to the victims.
