Free WiFi was available from this morning at Auckland railway stations, with Auckland Transport reporting several hundred people had signed up within hours.
WiFi is available for registered AT HOP card users at 40 train stations, and is being rolled out to ferry wharfs and bus terminals over the next few months.
Cardholders can access up to 1GB per day, with no time limit on usage. Those without an AT HOP card can connect for 10 minutes per day.
Users must register online using the last seven digits of their card number. Cards must also have a positive balance, be registered, and have been used or topped up within the past five days.
One user tweeted this morning that he couldn't log on, despite having a valid monthly pass.
