A thousand free domestic and international flights were snapped up within an hour as Jetstar hit back at rival Air New Zealand's free flights to Christchurch.
On Friday Jetstar offered 370 free international seats on flights to Australia and Singapore, and 630 free domestic seats on flights between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.
The tickets went within an hour of going online at 4pm on Friday.
The offer was the latest salvo in an airfare price war between the carriers, which has seen promotional fares drop to as low as one cent.
Air NZ was the first to offer free flights the previous week, when it gave away 1500 one-way tickets to Christchurch from tomorrow until December 2.
