A woman who raised funds online for a terminal illness has been charged with fraud.
The woman, who was granted interim name suppression, was excused from her court appearance at the Auckland District Court today due to sickness.
The woman is facing three charges of obtaining pecuniary advantage totalling more than $15,000 by deception and a fourth charge of obtaining a lease of a car by deception.
Her lawyer Alex Steadman argued publication of her name and identifying details would be "counter-therapeutic" for her health.
Judge Ema Aitken granted interim suppression, but advised Mr Steadman that he would need to show evidence of "extreme hardship" if the suppression was to continue.
