Police are bewildered by the disappearance of a Franz Josef man who went missing on Saturday night.
Police constable Tony Le Sueur said today police had no clue as to the whereabouts of Dylan Earle Bliss, 33, a shop assistant who was last seen at a barbecue in Franz Josef.
"We just don't have any leads at all."
Mr Le Sueur said the disappearance was completely out of character, "which is why there is such concern".
Mr Le Sueur said foul play had not been ruled out, "but there is nothing so far to indicate that's been the case either".
The extensive search for Mr Bliss continued today, with about 40 volunteers, three search and rescue dogs, and a white water rescue team searching parts of the South Westland bush and tracks.
"We didn't find any clues yesterday, and hopefully today will give us a different result," Mr Le Sueur said.
Mr Bliss is described as a solidly-built Caucasian, "slightly overweight", with short black curly hair, black beard and brown eyes.
An initial investigation by police revealed Mr Bliss had not taken his vehicle to leave the area and his bank accounts had remained unused.
Police are appealing for help from the public in finding the man.
