Ford Performance Vehicles is reversing out of our market in style as it launches its final model.

A limited release of 500 FPV GT sedans will be produced for Australia and New Zealand this year. They will wear an "F" to signify the final time the GT will be in showrooms.

Alongside the sedan will be an FPV ute, of which only 120 will be made.

Ford says the GT F will boast the superior handling capabilities of the acclaimed GT R-spec.

No mechanical details have been released, but expect even more power from the current 335kW and 570Nm supercharged 5-litre V8.

Alloy wheels will be shod with 275/35 R19 Dunlop Sports Maxx tyres for maximum grip, and an automatically enabled launch-control feature will tailor torque delivery to ensure performance is optimised.

Putting the anchors on the GT F will be Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes.

When it comes to the styling, Ford has promised some cues to the past yet it will remain typically bold and muscular.

"We knew we had to celebrate an icon so some of the visual design cues can trace their heritage back to the Ford GTs of the 1970s," designer Nick Eterovic said.

"There is a true sense of history and celebration with this car but we wanted to make sure that we retained the most exciting elements of the current FPV range, while modernising the design and adding fresh elements to the GT F."

The new look Pursuit Ute, set to be powered by a 5-litre V8 engine will also feature the design cues of the GT F.
