Masterton teacher, and aspiring Maori Party MP Marama Fox, has been named number 2 on the party list.
Mrs Fox, who is standing for Ikaroa-Rawhiti, is headed only by party leader Te Ururoa Flavell on the list but would still need the party to secure enough party votes to have a chance to enter parliament as a List MP.
At the last election the Maori party won three electorates but failed overall to secure a big enough percentage of the vote to bolster its elected representation with List MPs.
Third behind Mrs Fox is Chris McKenzie of Te Tai Hauauru, activist Tama Iti is number 7 and Wairarapa's Ra Smith comes in at number 19.
Mrs Fox is standing against Labour's Meka Whaitiri, Henare Matua Kani (Greens) and Internet-Mana's candidate Te Hamua Nikora for Ikaroa-Rawhiti which extends from Gisborne in the north, through Wairarapa to Wainuiomata.
