A neighbour of Labour MP Louisa Wall has laid a complaint after a beagle registered in the politician's name killed a chicken.
The neighbour on Manurewa's Hill Rd, who did not want to be named, claimed the beagle attacked the fowl on another neighbour's property last month.
Auckland Council spokesman Glyn Walter confirmed a dog registered to Wall had attacked a chicken. But Wall said Bella the beagle belonged to her partner Prue Kapua and the registration details were incorrectly documented after the couple moved to Manukau.
Lawyer Kapua said Bella escaped through the front door when someone visited the house.
"This is one incident on a Sunday where she was seen chasing a free-range chicken and grabbed it. Whether it died of a heart attack I don't know, she didn't eat it, but the chicken died," Kapua said.
