The voice of Auckland schoolgirl Cassandra McCowan cuts through the wind and rain at Eden Park.
The 14-year-old St Cuthbert's College student is practising for her big performance at the Auckland vs Lions game tonight, where she will sing the Lions song, The Power of Four.
Cassandra says there is no conflict of interest for her.
"I've got a lot of English blood in me, so I support both sides equally," she said.
Her paternal grandmother and many relatives still live in England.
It is the classically-trained singer's first big performance at a sporting event, but she is no stranger to the stage. She has performed solo at Christmas in the Park, and last year was asked to stand in - at short notice - for a solo performance at the Starlight Symphony.
A singer and dancer since she was three, Cassandra was recently triumphant in the McDonald's Aria Competition in Sydney, winning two categories.
Cassandra said singing a non-classical song was not difficult.
She likes many types of music and hopes one day to be recognised for singing ballads. Her idol is Canadian diva Celine Dion.
Cassandra will share the stage with another young singer, Will Martin, who will be performing the New Zealand anthem. The pair share a teaching tutor, Janice Webb, who suggested the pair as candidates for singing the anthems.
Will Martin said of his role: "This is in a league of its own. It's the best way to get on TV."
