Four die on roads over weekend

A young man died last night after falling out of a car which then drove off.

The victim, a 24-year-old, was believed to have fallen out of the car at Verrans Corner on the North Shore about 6.40pm.

His death took the weekend toll to four.

A man died when the car he drove ploughed through a fence in the Mamaku Ranges, near Rotorua, about 7.45 last night.

Bruce Stuart Cowan, 42, died when the car he was a passenger in hit a tree on Stock Rd near Hastings. On Saturday night a 19-year-old man passenger died in Murupara, about 65km southeast of Rotorua.
