A four-year-old, who was fighting for his life after being hit by a vehicle in Auckland today, has died.
Kingi Te Ao Reneti was playing with a group of friends when he was struck by a passing vehicle on Sykes Road outside his home at about 12.50pm.
Emergency services were called to the property at Weymouth, and the little boy was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.
The Counties/Manukau Serious Crash Unit is investigating the fatality.
The driver of the vehicle has co-operated with Police and has been advised of the child's death.
