A Featherston man has been arrested after a month-long manhunt and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Califf Anthony Dickson, 24, was arrested just after 4am yesterday, when he was found at a Featherston home.

Police had been seeking Dickson since an alleged confrontation in Carterton on January 13.

On Wednesday police cordoned off a Boundary Rd house and called in the armed offenders squad, who were later stood down.

In Masterton District Court yesterday, Dickson was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and entering a garage on Lincoln Rd, Carterton, with intent to commit an offence while carrying a crowbar, pistol and a hammer.

Police allege Dickson and another man, who has also been charged, went to the property to confront the residents regarding a post on social media.

During the confrontation one of the residents received a minor cut to his arm, but no shots were fired.

The armed offenders squad was not called out, but reinforcements from the Hutt were deployed.

Detective Senior Sergeant Barry Bysouth said Dickson had been arrested without incident and no weapons were found during the arrest.

Duty solicitor Frank Minehan said Dickson had consented to a remand in custody to allow time for legal aid and bail applications to be filed.

He is due to appear in court again on February 18.
