MELBOURNE - Four people escaped serious injury when a light plane crash-landed in a street in the Victorian coastal town of Sorrento.
Victoria Police said the single-engine plane, carrying four people, crashed into a street near the Sorrento Golf Course on the Mornington Peninsula about 2.30pm (AEDT).
The pilot suffered some minor injuries but the passengers were unharmed, a police spokesman said.
The plane took out some power lines and possibly damaged some cars when it landed.
It is believed a truck driver pulled the people to safety.
The plane was extensively damaged but police said it did not catch fire.
It was not known where the plane had flown from or where it was going.
Matt Bolton, a trainee professional at the Sorrento Golf Club, said part of the wing of the aircraft had broken off and was strewn over the road.
"There were four people on board and they are all OK," Mr Bolton told AAP.
"A man who was passing by pulled them out of the plane.
"It has come down and taken out power lines."
The plane crash-landed about 150 metres to 200 metres from the golf course and appeared to have been trying to reach the wide fairways of the course before it was forced down.
