Firefighters today rescued four people from a ute that careered off the road and down a steep bank on the Rimutaka hill road.
The double cab vehicle went through a fence on the Featherston side of the hill early today, police said.
Firefighters used special equipment to winch the trapped passengers back up the road.
They were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed serious.
