Four people were rescued after a boat overturned on the Taieri River mouth in south Otago this morning.
Police were called at 9.15am and sent a helicopter to the scene after rough conditions prevented rescue boats being involved.
Three people had been swept out to sea and the fourth had made it back to land.
One person was flown to Dunedin Hospital and another was being taken to hospital by ambulance.
The other two received medical check-ups at the scene.
