Four people were injured, one seriously, in a three-car crash in Coromandel this afternoon.
A police spokesman said the crash, which involved a four-wheel drive and two smaller vehicles, happened about 4.40pm on Kopu-Hikuai Rd, about 8km east of Thames.
One person was seriously injured and flown by rescue helicopter to Auckland.
Five others suffered moderate injuries and were treated locally.
The scene had since been cleared.
