KEY POINTS:
Four people were taken to hospital after a head-on smash between a milk tanker and a four-wheel drive vehicle near Hokitika last night.
The incident happened at about 7.30pm on a one-lane bridge south of Ross. Police say it seems the Toyota drove onto the bridge, although the tanker was already on it.
