KEY POINTS:
Auckland police are investigating the theft of 400 bronze plaques stolen from a commemorative wall at Purewa Cemetery between 4.30pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday.
The plaques are valued at about $300,000 and would have taken some time for the thieves to remove from the wall.
Police want to hear from any scrap metal dealers who have been approached with an offer of cheap bronze.
For more information call Sergeant Philip Richardson of the Newmarket police on (09) 529-5657.
