Four people, including two children, have been hospitalised after two cars collided north of Christchurch today.
An ambulance communications spokesman said emergency services were called just before 3.30pm to the intersection of Lehmans Road and Johns Road, near Fernside.
Two children suffered possible head injuries and were taken to Christchurch Hospital.
A woman, who was trapped in one of the cars, suffered serious injuries and was flown to the hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter.
A man was also taken to the hospital in a serious condition with head injuries.
