Four people are gunning to represent the National Party in Wairarapa.
Jo Hayes, James Perry, Alastair Scott and Richard Townley had been pre-selected, said Malcolm Plimmer, the party's Lower North Island regional chairman.
One of the four will then be selected at a regional conference on April 25.
The candidate will run in this year's general election against the Labour Party's Kieran McAnulty and Green Party's John Hart. Incumbent Wairarapa MP, National's John Hayes, announced his retirement this year.
