KEY POINTS:
Three people have been killed and one person is missing after four separate car accidents across the country yesterday.
A 17-year-old man died when the car he was driving rolled down a bank in Frasertown, 8km north of Wairoa between midnight and 6.30am.
In another Hawke's Bay accident, a 37-year-old man died in a crash on Pakowhai Rd in Hastings at 2am yesterday. The victim's name is not being released until next of kin have been informed, but police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the man's car, a blue Nissan Primera stationwagon, registration DFD182.
A 34-year-old male has died after the vehicle he was driving rolled down a 10m bank at Great Barrier Island's Medlands Beach around 3am yesterday.
Just south of Nelson in Murchison, the search continues for a car and its male driver after the car he was driving left the road and ended up in the Buller River. The accident happened about 3.50am yesterday, 1.5km north of O'Sullivan's Bridge on SH 6.
And one person is dead after a car crashed into a power pole near Tokoroa, cutting power to much of the town. Police were investigating the crash, in which a second person was injured.
