Four die on roads over weekend

Four people died in three road accidents over the weekend.

Two men, aged 19 and 25, were killed when two cars collided on State Highway 2 about 5km north of Woodville on Saturday night.

Both were passengers in one of the vehicles. The car drivers were flown to hospital in Palmerston North with critical injuries.

A motorcyclist died after his machine hit a power pole on Brighams Creek Rd, Whenuapai, west Auckland, about 1am yesterday.

And an 18-year-old Taranaki man died after the car he was driving left SH3 about 2km south of Te Kuiti around 6.40am yesterday.

A female passenger in the car had been taken to hospital for a check but had not been badly hurt.
