A motorist crashed into a power pole late last night near Lake Rotoiti, near Rotorua, bringing the weekend road toll to four.
Police said the crash happened on State Highway 33 about 11.40pm.
Earlier in the weekend, a 15-year-old ran 8km to find help after the 4WD he was a passenger in rolled and crashed on a 4WD-only road in remote Marlborough on Saturday, killing its 16-year-old driver instantly.
The driver's identity has not yet been released.
The passenger received minor injuries when the 4WD rolled at the intersection of Leatham River and Boulder Stream in the Wairau Valley about 6.30pm on Saturday, police said.
Also on Saturday, a 41-year-old car driver died after a collision with a car as the truck was turning, causing the truck to roll onto its side, police said.
That happened on Glenbrook Rd at Glenbrook, southwest of Auckland about 4.45pm.
Later that night, a 47-year-old woman died after the car she was a passenger in collided with a truck on Kimbolton Rd, Cheltenham, 13km northeast of Feilding.
The car crashed into the truck as it was reversing out of a driveway about 8.45pm, police said.
The driver of the car was not seriously hurt and the truck driver was uninjured.
