KEY POINTS:
Four inmates have been charged following a police investigation into a vicious stabbing at the country's only maximum security prison.
An inmate was attacked with a makeshift knife during the brawl at Auckland Prison at Paremoremo in early September. He was taken to hospital for treatment. The incident triggered the facility's second lockdown in a month.
The group has appeared in the North Shore District Court accused of causing grievous bodily harm and assault.
Details of the charges have been released to Newstalk ZB by the Department of Corrections under the Official Information Act but Corrections has refused to divulge further details of the incident, because of the ongoing court proceedings.
