The founder of ITN's News at Ten, Sir Geoffrey Cox, has died at the age of 97.
He began his career reporting on key European events leading up to the Second World War. He also served in the New Zealand army and represented New Zealand as a diplomat in Washington.
In 1956, the New Zealander was appointed the second editor of ITN and started News at Ten.
He then went on to hold the roles of Deputy Chairman of Yorkshire Television, Chairman of Tyne Tees Television, and of London radio news station LBC.
Geoffrey became a 'Sir' after he was knighted in 1966 for his commitment to journalism.
