Police have not ruled out foul play in the disappearance of a 42-year-old Hamilton woman missing since Wednesday.
Francesca Martin's white Nissan Pulsar was found by police parked on the wrong side of the road near Wairakei, Taupo, on Friday night.
Detective Chris Thomas said there had been no confirmed sightings of Ms Martinsince Wednesday.
He said family and friends described her lack of contact as extremely out of character. Ms Martin has not touched her bank account since Wednesday.
Detective Thomas said there were no mechanical problems with the car and no signs it had been stolen. He urged anyone who may have seen Ms Martin or her car to contact police.
"Someone must have seen her if she was down our way."
