Aucklanders have two weeks to tell the city council their feelings on a proposal to extend pay and display parking hours to 10pm in the central city.
Transport committee chairman Ken Baguley said that with pay and display hours ending at 6pm, CBD residents and workers were parking in many of the onstreet spaces, affecting visitors to the area.
The CBD's residential population had risen from fewer than 2000 in 1991 to about 18,000 in 2006, increasing parking demand.
Onstreet parking in the CBD's busiest streets between 6pm and 10pm would be available at half the normal tariff, with no time restriction.
"We're keen to find out what Aucklanders think of the proposal, and will review feedback atcouncil's transport committee, before any decision is made," Mr Baguley said.
The consultation process follows implementation of a six-month trial extending pay and display to 10pm around some Viaduct Harbour streets.
Fortnight for parking feedback
