An Auckland real estate agent jailed over a $13 million property fraud has failed in his bid to overturn his conviction.
Former Barfoot and Thompson agent Raghu Aryasomayajula, 38, was sentenced to four years' prison in February after he was found guilty of dishonestly filling out mortgage applications relating to 10 properties.
His co-defendant, Phillip Julian Cavanagh, was sentenced to two years and five months' prison after pleading guilty to his part in the deception.
Aryasomayajula appealed his conviction on the grounds the trial judge erred in weighing up evidence, and that one charge he faced was duplicitous because it actually included 10 separate charges.
He also appealed his sentence, arguing the bar was set to high.
