A former principal of a Canterbury school facing child sex charges from the 1990s lost name suppression today and admitted that some sexual activity happened with a boy.
Michael William Hogan, 54, pleaded not guilty to nine sexual violation charges at Christchurch District Court this morning.
Defence counsel Grant Tyrrell said he acknowledged that some indecent offending took place, but police needed to amend or file alternative charges for six remaining charges of indecent assault against one boy under the age of 16 before pleas could be entered.
Up until September last year, Hogan was principal of Prebbleton School in Canterbury.
In his last school newsletter he stated it was time to seek new challenges, but would never be far from education. The school was unaware of the charges against him.
