A former senior Northland policeman jailed for stealing methamphetamine from an evidence lock-up at Whangarei police station and supplying it to others will be released next Wednesday.
Mike Blowers, 51, will be released from prison after serving 19 months of his four year nine month sentence. He was sentenced to jail in December 2014 after a judge said his actions involved "a very high level of hypocrisy".
In a decision released by the Parole Board today Blowers was described as a model prisoner.
"The report we have notes that he has been of assistance to both prison officers and inmates," panel convenor Judge Michael Behrens said.
The Parole Board were satisfied Blowers would not be an undue risk of re-offending and said he could be released on July 27.
