A former Otago police officer has been jailed for two years and four months for lying in court about his role in a road crash five years ago.
Neil Robert Ford, 56, had claimed the crash was caused by a 17-year-old driver, Shane Cribb, but it was later proven that Ford caused the crash.
He was convicted of perjury last month.
Judge Paul Kellar, who sentenced Ford in Dunedin District Court yesterday, also ordered a $10,000 reparation offered by Ford to Mr Cribb.
