Former Gore mayor Ian Tulloch is out of intensive care and "on track to begin rehabilitation", his family says.
In a statement, the family thanked everyone for their prayers and support and said rehabilitation would begin in the "coming weeks".
         Mr Tulloch, who has raced cars for more than 40
         years, was injured in a high-speed crash at Teretonga Park, Invercargill, on March 20.
        
The 65-year-old was initially taken by ambulance to Southland Hospital before being transferred to Christchurch Hospital, where he remains.
