Former Detective Sergeant Michael Blowers changed his plea to admit two methamphetamine charges after his lawyer was informed of additional evidence favouring the Crown case that Blowers stole the drug from an exhibit lock-up.
Blowers yesterday pleaded guilty in the High Court at Whangarei to supplying methamphetamine between June 1, 2011 and June 31, 2012, and a charge of stealing methamphetamine from a police exhibit room on or about October 19, 2011.
A spokeswoman for defence lawyer Arthur Fairley said yesterday that he had been instructed by Blowers to make no further comment.
The court heard that he transferred a seizure of methamphetamine to a lock-up which he had access to, stole an amount and then added table salt to the original bag to try to disguise the theft.
