Former Cabinet minister John Falloon, 63, has woken from a coma after surgery on a brain tumour.
Mr Falloon - National MP for Pahiatua from 1977 to 1996 - was flown in the Life Flight air ambulance to Wellington on Friday.
He had a seven-hour operation on Saturday and remained in a coma until "miraculously" waking up about noon yesterday.
