KEY POINTS:
Former broadcaster and journalist Bruce Wallace died today in Auckland at the age of 59.
Wallace, who had been suffering from cancer, had reported for British and New Zealand television before becoming corporate affairs manager for the Fletcher Challenge conglomerate.
The latter role gave him the insight for his 2001 book, Battle of the Titans: Sir Ronald Trotter, Hugh Fletcher and the Rise and Fall of Fletcher Challenge.
Wallace also wrote a financial planning book Your Money Diet and presented Radio New Zealand's Your Money programme.
Up until March, he was chairman of the Advertising Standards Authority, and was still on the board of that body, on the management board of the Journalists' Training Organisation and represented television on the media freedom committee of the Commonwealth Press Union.
