Former All Black halfback Ofisa 'Junior' Tonu'u is standing for the Auckland Council at October's local body elections.
Tonu'u, who played eight matches for the All Blacks between 1996 and 1998 and 14 matches for Samoa, has been selected by the left-leaning City Vision ticket to contest the Puketapapa Local Board.
The 46-year-old, who works with local youth, is joined by Auckland Grey Power president Anne-Marie Coury, Citizens Advice Bureau volunteer Shail Kaushal and sitting members Julie Fairey, Harry Doig and David Holm selected by City Vision to contest the local board.
The ticket has selected sitting councillor Cathy Casey and Albert-Eden Local Board chairman Peter Haynes to contest the two Albert-Eden-Roskill ward seats at the elections.
