The former head of a high profile alcohol rehabilitation centre has been charged with drink-driving.
Ewen James McLeod faces charges of driving while forbidden, refusing to accompany a police officer, and driving while he had a breath-alcohol level of 749mcg of alcohol to a litre of breath. The legal limit is 400mcg.
McLeod, 59, used to be the director of The Deanery, a rehabilitation centre in Christchurch, which dealt with professional and high profile clients before its collapse in 2003.
English model and actress Paula Hamilton was among its clientelle.
McLeod, of Diamond Harbour, Lyttelton, is now a real estate agent.
He was granted a registrar's remand when his case came up in Christchurch District Court today. He did not need to appear and was remanded to March 27.
