Part of Wellington Hospital was isolated following a formalin leak today.
The Fire Service was alerted to the incident about 11.30 this morning and units were dispatched to clear the scene.
Hospital spokesman Michael Tull said the leak was relatively minor and no patients were affected.
He said 14 people were sent to the emergency department for a check-up following the incident.
The building where the incident occurred will be unoccupied until tomorrow and non-urgent surgery will be postponed until tomorrow.
