A 24-year-old worker at a Gisborne timber mill died yesterday morning after being crushed by a forklift.
Sergeant Carl Neustroski said the man was using a forklift to shift timber when the vehicle tipped over.
He died at the mill.
The Department of Labour's Occupational Safety and Health service was investigating.
It is understood the accident occurred at the Double J timber processing plant.
