KEY POINTS:
A 38-year-old Levin forestry worker was airlifted to Wellington Hospital today after being injured by a falling tree.
The man was cutting down a tree at Waikanae when a strong gust of wind blew it towards him, trapping his leg.
He was freed by co-workers before being flown to hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
