A forest worker suffered head and neck injuries while felling a tree near Taupo this morning.
A spokesman for the Youthtown Trust rescue helicopter said a call was received to the Waitahanui Forest, east of Taupo, after the 26-year-old man suffered lacerations to his head and also a neck injury.
The tree he was cutting broke up when it fell and a large piece fell on his head.
The man was treated by St Johns advanced paramedics at the scene and winched into the helicopter before being flown to Rotorua Hospital for treatment.
