The Foreshore and Seabed Act is being described as a festering sore.
The Government's review of the Act will be made public today.
Solicitor and activist Annette Sykes says the issue is hugely important to Maori and is a significant issue that has sat unresolved for centuries.
She hopes the Maori Party has the courage to impress on the National Party, the right of Maori to have their relationships with the foreshore and seabed respected and guaranteed.
