It could be several days before a man who died in a fatal crash in Taranaki yesterday afternoon is formally identified, police say.
They needed to identify him with forensics tests, which would probably be completed early next week, Acting Senior Sergeant Phil Taikato of Stratford police told NZPA.
The man had been driving a courier van which collided with a truck on State Highway 3 at Midhirst, between Inglewood and Stratford, about 3pm.
The truck driver was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth. His injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
