Supermarket operator Foodstuffs is being accused of bullying tactics, after it suspended 120 workers at its Christchurch distribution centre following a one-hour strike over pay.
The National Distribution Union says the dispute has been dragging on for eight months. Spokesman Paul Watson says the workers were taking a limited action to make their point, and would cause only minimal disruption to the operation. He says the reaction is over the top, and an attempt to bully and intimidate people into going back to work.
Mr Watson says the suspensions are illegal, and the union will be taking action.
