A public meeting to discuss the planned up to $250 million expansion of Fonterra Pahiatua was generally positive, says site operations manager Bill Boakes.
About 400-500 short-term jobs would be created during construction, with 45 new fulltime positions when the extension is operating in 2015.
The company has still to apply for consent to the Tararua District Council and the Horizons Regional Council.
Mr Boakes said about 30 people showed up to the two-hour meeting at Bush Multi-Sports on Thursday night.
He said there was plenty of opportunity for the public to discuss concerns after the company presented their plans.
